San Javier Airport is to the south and is close to the untouched area of Costa Calida, the airport at Alicante is north of Mar Menor where there are a lots of activities for water sports, sailing and playing a round of golf.
Alicante is about a 50 minute drive from our villa, it is worth visiting and exploring the harbour and the many numerous restaurants and bars. Places of interest and boutique shops are popular places to be.
Both airports serve international and national flights to destinations throughout Europe and the UK.
Murcia is best described as one of the best cities for history and beauty in the country, the city sits on the banks of a river and it enjoys constant sunshine all year round. There is a lot of influence from the Moors and a lot of the Mosques are now churches, but it has not lacked for its cuisine and value for money being so close to the sea.
The area is one of the most popular tourist areas for a long time and this is why we have chosen to have our villa here. Within 20 kilometers there are beaches, towns and market places. The town has a traditional look and feel, San Pedro del Pinatar is at the top of the Mar Menor with its bars, restaurants and shops and has a weekly market and the marina is popular for water sports.
Elche is north of the Playa Golf which is nearby, it is renowned to be the largest for Palm tree plantations in Europe and it has an essence of North African agriculture inherited from the Islamic occupation. It is by far the busiest city for tourists in Costa Blanca and has been around since the tenth century.
Take a trip down to the Resort at Torrevieja, the small fishing village which is now also a huge tourist resort for all kinds of people. This old town has roots dating back to the Moors period, there is evidence of Moorish architecture in guard towers and the harbour. Markets are out every Friday and it is a large market, a lot of restaurants for diverse tastes line the coastal road with excellent cuisine.
The south of the holiday resort is the Flamenca beach and other beaches in the area, mixed with cafes and restaurants and gives you a good environment.
